Dubai Healthcare City has seen turnover increase and says spending in public and private sector will continue to rise

Dubai Healthcare City has experienced a notable uptick in turnover since 2020 and is projecting continued expansion in the foreseeable future. The Dubai Healthcare City Authority (DHCA) recently presented a report titled “Dubai’s Healthcare Ecosystem Highlights” at Arab Health 2024, offering valuable insights and robust growth indicators for the emirate’s healthcare sector. This report underscores Dubai Healthcare City’s dedication to advancing the healthcare ecosystem by integrating core healthcare services seamlessly and fostering collaboration with global organizations, as outlined by Arabian Business.

Dubai Healthcare City growth

Key findings from the report underscore the pivotal role of Dubai Healthcare City (DHCC) as the emirate’s premier healthcare investment hub, with a projected significant increase in turnover between 2020 and 2024, estimated at an impressive 16 percent Compound Annual Growth Rate (CAGR). This figure reflects DHCC’s steadfast dedication to enhancing the efficiency and sustainability of its ecosystem, as well as the strong confidence exhibited by major regional and international healthcare investors in DHCC’s capacity to foster growth opportunities within Dubai’s dynamic healthcare landscape, as per Arabian Business.

Furthermore, the report reaffirms the robust growth trajectory of Dubai’s healthcare industry, demonstrating substantial increases in both public and private sector healthcare expenditure. Projections indicate that public sector spending is poised to reach AED104 billion ($28.3 billion) by 2027, with the private sector anticipated to reach AED22 billion ($5.9 billion) by the same period, boasting CAGRs of 7.5 percent and 8.8 percent, respectively.

Moreover, the study sheds light on DHCC’s ongoing expansion of Phase 2, aimed at complementing the healthcare ecosystem with comprehensive preventive care, wellness, and urban lifestyle offerings. Spanning approximately 22 million square feet, Phase 2 has attracted strategic investments totaling AED1.03 billion ($280.4 million) from 2019 to the present, positioning DHCC as a frontrunner in driving forward the evolution of Dubai’s healthcare landscape, in line with Arabian Business reports.

In alignment with the emirate’s visionary objectives for cultivating a dynamic healthcare industry poised to serve a projected population of 5.8 million by 2040, as outlined in the Dubai 2040 Urban Master Plan, which aims to augment the land area designated for educational and healthcare facilities by 25 percent, Dubai Healthcare City (DHCC) assumes a pivotal role in attracting investments that contribute to these ambitious aims, fostering a vibrant, healthy, and inclusive community for residents and visitors alike, as noted by Arabian Business.

Allae Almanini, Chief Financial Officer at Dubai Healthcare City Authority, emphasized, “We are steadfast in our endeavors to forge collaborations aimed at extending healthcare services and attracting investments that directly support the objectives of the Dubai 2040 Urban Master Plan. Our dedication extends to forging strategic partnerships, establishing community health clinics, and spearheading innovative co-living concepts. As the healthcare landscape undergoes continual evolution, we remain at the forefront, epitomizing unparalleled growth and commitment to crafting a holistic healthcare and wellness ecosystem,” as stated by Arabian Business.

Highlighting DHCC’s pivotal role in augmenting healthcare delivery to meet escalating demands, the study indicates a notable surge in the workforce within DHCC, surging from 10,000 in 2021 to 11,500 in 2024, according to Arabian Business.

Presently, DHCC’s ecosystem boasts a comprehensive array of medical services, encompassing 481 registered facilities offering advanced diagnostic procedures, specialized treatments, surgical interventions, and notably, the establishment of the first Russian clinic in Dubai – Kandinsky, reports Arabian Business.

With 195 clinical facilities and 130 regional headquarters of global entities, DHCC continues to spearhead the metamorphosis of Dubai’s healthcare landscape, providing direct access to an unparalleled network of partners, as detailed by Arabian Business.
