Were you considering a second citizenship? Well, you now have 30 more days to secure yours for US$100,000 and save 50%.
Earlier this year, the Caribbean Five – Antigua and Barbuda, Dominica, Grenada, Saint Lucia, and St. Kitts and Nevis – signed a Memorandum of Agreement to collectively double their minimum investment thresholds to US$200,000 by July 1st, 2024. However, with the deadline just around the corner, Antigua and Barbuda’s CIU has announced a significant update: Charmaine Quinland-Donovan, the Chief Executive of the CIU, outlined in a memo that the CIU has secured an additional 30 days for the deadline, extending the price increase to August 1st.
This means that interested investors have a final chance to capitalize on the current investment threshold of just US$100,000 and get their second citizenship for half the price.
Updated Investment Thresholds Announced
Also outlined in the memo are the new minimum investment thresholds, which will be as follows from August 1st:
National Development Fund (NDF) Contributions:
- A minimum investment of US$230,000 for families of 1-4 members
- A minimum investment of US$245,000 for families of 5 or more members
University of the West Indies (UWI) Fund Contributions: A minimum investment of US$300,000
Real Estate Investments: A minimum investment of US$325,000
Business Investment: For this option, the thresholds remain unchanged:
- A minimum investment of US$1.5 million for sole applicants
- A minimum investment of US$400,000 per investor in joint ventures totaling at least US$5 million
Application Process and Fee Adjustments
The CIU has issued detailed guidance on the application submission process. Required documentation includes fully completed and signed forms, identification documents, proof of address, source of income verification, net worth confirmation, and investment agreements. Applicants must submit physical documents and initial fees within 21 days of their electronic application upload.
Notably, the processing fees have also been revised:
- A standard fee of US$30,000 will cover a single applicant or a family of up to four.
- For the UWI fund option, processing fees are included in the investment amount.
- Families with five or more members will benefit from reduced additional dependent fees, now set at US$10,000, decreased from US$15,000.
The CIU has emphasized the importance of submitting complete and timely applications, stating that applications will be processed in the order that physical documents and fees are received. They also warned that incomplete applications would not be accepted, underlining the necessity for applicants to ensure all required documentation is meticulously gathered to avoid processing delays.
